The Moms for Liberty chapter in Williamson County next week will hold an event in conjunction with Parents’ Choice Tennessee to teach the county’s parents about woke left-wing curriculum in schools, according to a Tuesday release.
The event has been dubbed SEL101. SEL stands for “Social Emotional Learning.”
“You have likely heard the term ‘Social Emotional Learning,’ as it is now interwoven into almost every curriculum or school program your child encounters,” Moms for Liberty says. “But what is it? To the average parent, SEL seems nebulous and difficult to define, and that is by design. However its definition and recognition are critical for parents seeking to advocate for their children in today’s education environment.”
The event aims to teach parents to identify SEL in their children’s curriculum.
“From kindergarten to high school, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is interwoven through nearly every facet of a student’s school day,” according to the group. “It is federally funded, thus federally mandated, prioritized in school curriculum, and present throughout extra-curricular class material, classroom activities, student surveys, student counseling, and beyond.”
“SEL facilitates nearly every other agenda. It is critically important for parents to become aware of what it is, what it does, and what they can do to advocate for their children in the school environment,” said Robin Williams, who leads Moms for Liberty of Williamson County.
Several experts in the field will engage with the audience at the event.
Jennifer McWilliams is one of them.
She is a former teacher who “became very concerned about the alarming shift in focus from academics to ideology in K-12 education.”
She was later fired from her position for “exposing the indoctrinating SEL agenda in her school … .”
Moms for Liberty describes her as “the country’s leading expert on SEL and how it has infiltrated every school district in America.”
Dr. James Lindsay, an author and political commentator, will also speak at the event.
“He is the founder of New Discourses, an organization ‘dedicated to shining the light of objective truth in subjective darkness,’ and is a vocal speaker on the ‘Marxification of Education,'” Moms for Liberty says. “He has been featured on Fox News, Glenn Beck, Joe Rogan, NPR, and many others.”

SEL is yet another reason that Tennessee should immediately stop taking federal funds for education. It is a very cheap buy in cost for the feds being able to control our schools, our teachers and our student’s emotional development – a function of the family unit.
